I have come to the conclusion that things can only get better in England. From now I forecast a rise in English fortunes for the simple reason that things can't get any worse! So happy Wednesday everyone. If you are English, then you will notice that there will be some good news after a week when we could have filled the Bulletin six times over with bad news.

The fact that Britain has pulled out of the European Union is good news because the pound has now dropped to levels not seen since the Wall Street crash and it is far cheaper for us expats with euros to go to Britain. (That is if you want to go there at the moment!). Spain didn't have a prime minister (and still doesn't have one) for six months, so David Cameron should not be too concerned, because the country actually prospered. Some even said that Spain works better without a government.

On the footballing front England are out of the European Championships after their worst performance ever. So, every cloud has a silver-lining because England can only play better. Another reason to be upbeat. But I must admit that in my 45 years of life I do not think I have despaired so much about England as I have done over the last four days. But Keep Calm and Carry On. All I will say is thank you, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and the Leave Campaign and of course Roy Hodgson for making me so proud to be English. We invented football, fair play and tolerance. It is sadly missing in Britain at the moment.
