Firefighting planes have been assisting in tackling a blaze in Albufera that was initially declared Level 0, so not threatening, but which was raised to Level 1 later in the afternoon. The Ibanat environment agency first confirmed the fire via the 112 Twitter feed at 15.23 this afternoon and then announced that it was more serious than initially thought. As of 18.00 the fire was described as being controlled, and Canadair planes are no longer being used.

Two planes as well as a water-bombing helicopter were deployed as were three firefighting units.

Ibanat says that approximately 7.1 hectares of reed land and scrub have been affected. The actual nature park of Albufera was not harmed.
