Further to yesterday's report about residents in the El Terreno district of Palma preparing to defend themselves against general anti-social behaviour and crime, the National Police have responded by saying that they will be stepping up their presence at weekends. In fact, there will be more police on the streets as of 22.00 this Thursday up to midday on Sunday.

The National Police will be paying particular attention to the sale of drugs and to the number of fights that take place. Issues to do with noise and street drinking, which tend to centre on discos and Latino pubs, are ones for the local police.

Some months ago, the local police forwarded a report to the National Police regarding the reactivation of a number of Latino gangs in Palma, such as the Latin Kings and Los Blood.
