The National Police in Palma have arrested a woman suspected of having robbed more than 1,000 euros from a Swiss tourist in the S'Hort del Rei park in Palma. The tourist, who was his wife and two daughters, was approached by three women, who offered sprigs of rosemary. It was during this encounter that the tourist's wallet was stolen.

Shortly after this was reported to the police, the woman was arrested. She is part of a group of women known as "claveleras". Although rosemary was being offered on this occasion, claveleras refers to women who offer carnations in exchange for a small sum but which is the ruse to distract tourists and rob them.

The police believe that the arrested woman and others have resumed their activities following the expiry of a court restriction order that had applied to various parts of Palma, including S'Hort del Rei. The woman has previous convictions.
