Alaves 1 - Real Mallorca 0

Mallorca away at high-flying and robust Alaves, who proved the latter with two yellow cards in six minutes before Aveldaño joined the fun, was booked after 15 minutes, and then watched on as Pelegrín put Alaves into the lead following a Wellenreuther error. Though Mallorca were holding much of the possession and creating corners, this was all they were creating: a familiar story. Meanwhile, Dani Pacheco hit the bar for Alaves and Coro hobbled off and was replaced by the goal-less striker, Bianchi.

Into the second half and it was Alaves mainly on top, with Manu García forcing a save from Wellenreuther and the latest Mallorca boy wonder, James, coming on for Sissoko, and another Manu - Alaves sub Beobide - going close with a header midway through the half. This same Manu added to the impressive number of yellows Alaves have managed this season, while yet another Manu, Barreiro, was subbed, with Alaves remaining mostly untroubled by their visitors. The scoreless and increasingly pointless Bianchi added to his yellow tally as the match petered out with only bookings left to play for.
