DEAR Sir, Growing rapidly in Majorca is a branch of the Royal British Legion, the long established highly supported ex-service Association in the UK.

Many leading personalities of Majorca's British community have thrown their weight behind the local movement, who wish to be recognised as a leading charity for all and not just those who have served in the wars worldwide.

Everyone is welcome to join and can do so by contacting Pat Stone, the former President of the British American Club and now a very active Secretary of the local branch.

A novel way of promoting the branch is the get together of members and friends at the homes of those who sincerely believe that the British Legion at home and abroad are fulfilling a vital gap in the overall charity work and could mean, as an old Kitchener poster declared, “the country needs YOU.”

Two events are coming up.
The first is at the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Gaffney on May 18, a tapas and wine party over the lunch time from 12.30 onwards.
The next is a very important date in Majorca's social calendar, the Queen's official Birthday dinner, already oversubscribed but there could be last minute cancellations which could be taken up by ringing Mrs Pat Stone on 971 402934.

The Royal British Legion, Majorca Branch.
