Dear Sir, my family have just returned from Majorca. We stayed in Palma Nova on one of the days I went shopping in the resort. I was in a shop that sells pottery and trinkets.

When I heard an argument between a customer and the owners, the customer a woman had brought back a pair of child's sandals that had snapped, and she had asked for them to be changed or a refund.

The owner just blew his top and ordered the woman out of his shop he grabbed hold of her and was shouting get out of my shop you f.....g fat bitch! He was hurting the woman.
I was so scared of the man I didn't say or do anything in case he started on me but an elderly gent stepped in and said would you mind letting the woman go and to stop swearing at her.

The owner grabbed hold of the elderly gent and knocked him to the ground where he stayed, stunned and very shocked, for a minute until his elderly wife came running over to him to see if he was alright and help him up.

The police arrived and told the first woman to go to her hotel and get her passport and they would take her to the police station to fill in a report, and they told the elderly gent to make his own way there.

The man was white and shaking with shock, and I don't know if he ever made it to the police station.
I don't know the outcome of this disgraceful event. I have never seen anything like it before and wonder if it is the normal way you get treated in Majorca it certainly wouldn't happen in England.

I would think these shops needed the tourists to keep them open not to attack them, as there was seven adults and one child in our party I think we would be too scared to come back to Majorca if this is an everyday event.

Yours, faithfully
Barbara Potter (Mrs)
