Dear Sir, I wish to publicly acknowledge the honesty of the people of Majorca – something that is sadly lacking in many countries today. It is with great admiration (and gratitude) that I convey my story.

Last Friday, 16–06–2000 a group of friends and myself decided to have dinner at ES MOLI D'ES COMTE in Establiments. We had a lovely meal, the service was excellent (as is normal here on the island) and left the restaurant probably about 1.00am. It was not until 2.00am when I arrived home that I discovered that my wallet was missing. It contained everything – passport, credit cards, travellers cheques, and cash – all that I had on this holiday.

We quickly phoned the restaurant at 2.15am approximately (having made sure it was nowhere in the house or car) not really expecting them to be still there, however they were. Tino, our waiter had found the wallet under the table and was going to keep it safe for us. He would not be there the next day in the daytime but would give it to Mr.Cabrera (the boss) who would look after it until it was back in my possession.

So said, so done. I have my wallet back with everything in order and was a very happy man. Majorca is a lovely island and is even more special to me because of the honesty experienced with this incident. Koodoos to ES MOLI D'ES COMTE, Tino and Mr.Cabrera.

The following day another guest of our group felt he had lost his wallet at Carrefour, he rang information but there was no wallet handed in. However convinced that the last time he had his wallet was at the Cafeteria, he drove to the said Cafeteria on Sunday morning and was delighted to find his wallet placed by the staff adjacent to the cash till. Again totally intact. Well done Majorca.
