The local authorities are doing an excellent job in trying to promote the island as a winter holiday destination and their long-term goal is for all the island to be open for business 12 months a year including Christmas. But obviously they face an uphill struggle. Perhaps the authorities could also turn their attention to trying to persuade the resident expatriate population to stay on the island over the winter and especially at Christmas. Every expat Brit I know appears to be planning to return to Britain over the Christmas period. It appears that they can’t get off the island quick enough. It is one of the reasons why all the Christmas bazaars take place so early on the island: because many expats are heading "home" for Christmas.

Its funny but in days gone by many of the articles I read in the Bulletin have been virtually word for word what I saw in the UK 3 days before. Now they are a little quicker as they can be read online. Who me Guv!
Oh come on Jason most Britons living in Majorca are older. They will have extended families back home so it makes perfect sense they would want to be back home for Christmas. What you're suggesting is stay in Majorca and speak to all your children and grandchildren over the phone?

Now I know why the very few Hotels that are open, and the equally few flights over Xmas, New Year and Three Kings are already full and charging very high costs. And it looks like the grammar police are at it again. But not to worry: you can begin a sentence with whatever word you like. The preposition bollocks is a myth, and something one should be wary of.
Jason,how on earth did you ever become an editor? Starting a sentence with a preposition such as "But", I wonder how you actually made it as a journalist !
