WHILE Majorca witnessed its biggest showbiz extravaganza at the Bull Ring in Palma, when a German television show brought the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Geri Halliwell and Sophia Loren to the capital, UNICEF could upstage last year's gala in August. Although nothing is 100 per cent confirmed yet, UNICEF in Palma said yesterday that UNICEF is planning to hold the Friends 2000 - UNICEF Millennium Gala in Majorca on Saturday August 5. The Charity event could actually span the weekend, with a charity soccer match between Real Mallorca and Bayern Leverkusen at Son Moix stadium and a celebrity golf tournament the following day at Bendinat Golf Club. The spectacular event is currently being organised and if everything goes to plan then the likes of Tina Turner, Cher, Britney Spears and Madonna could be performing at the benefit spectacular. The Backstreet Boys may even return to perform at the Bull Ring with Hollywood action hero and practising Budhist, Steven Seagal expected to attend, accompanied by the Dalai Lama. The benefit concert, being organised by UNICEF Spain and Germany, will also feature a host of German stars and musicians - but unlike last year's television show, the UNICEF concert will be open to the public.
