THE fight is on to stage the wedding of the year between Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones. A British tabloid reported yesterday that Douglas was hoping to stage the marriage at his Majorcan retreat between Valldemossa and Deya. The news was welcomed by Valldemossa councillor Rosa Estaras who said that it would be a great honour for the municipality to stage a wedding of this calibre. We look upon Michael Douglas as a local. here. He has done so much for this area. But South Wales, home to Zeta Jones, is also anxious to stage the massive star-studded event. The Welsh Tourist Board have moved into over-drive, lobbying the Welsh actress hard, even sending her a full dossier on the merits of getting married in Wales. Zeta Jones wanted to get married in a Welsh chapel but this plan was abandoned because it was too small. The wedding is expected to take place in September and the guest list will read like a Who's Who of the Hollywood elite. The couple announced their engagment last week over a glass of Lemsip because they were both suffering from bad colds!
