A SPANISH army officer who died in a car bombing blamed on Basque ETA guerrillas was buried with full military honours yesterday as protests mounted against the renewed campaign of separatist violence. The attack - the first linked to ETA since it called off a 14-month ceasefire in early December - shattered any lingering hopes for an end to the long-running Basque conflict. Pedro Antonio Blanco Garcia, a lieutenant colonel, was killed on Friday when a bomb exploded in the Madrid neighbourhood where he lived.
