During the month of January Minorca airport, in Mahon, recorded 46'072 passengers, just over eight per cent more than during the first four weeks of 1999. According to figures released by the Minorcan airport authority yesterday, the largest volume of traffic was from mainland Spain and other Balearic islands with 44'374 domestic flight passengers passing through the terminal. The British market accounted for 1'678 passengers with only ten Germans travelling to the island followed by two Italians and eight others from other countries. The airport has also experienced a sharp rise in air traffic.
