In the early hours of yesterday morning a crew member on board the North American vessel Chesapeake Bay had to be plucked from the boat, suffering a respiratory infection and transferred to Verge del Toro Hopsital in Mahon for treatment. Sources at the hospital said yesterday that 54-year-old Augustus W.R. has been treated and that the infection has been brought under control, but he will have to spend a few more days in the hospital. The Palma maritime rescue centre received a call from the vessel in the early hours of yesterday morning and passed the message on to the National Maritime Rescue Co-ordination centre.
