The first ever record fair of the Balearics will be held in the Fires i Congressos fairs precinct in the Polígono de Levante on May 6 and 7. There will be more than 100 stands, with representatives from all over Europe and America. Organisers Joan Carles Vilella and Pere Terrassa said that it would be possible to buy discs from 300 pesetas to half a million pesetas, and 60 per cent of the material will be collectors' items. The fair will be open from 3 to 9pm on May 6 and 10am to 9pm on May 7, and the organisers say that there will also be stands specialising in memorabilia. On the afternoon of the second day, there will be an auction of items such as a piece of the stage from the Star Club in Germany where the Beatles played, and an autograph of Jimi Hendrix. There will also be an exhibition dedicated to the Beatles and one of record covers as well as live performances by various groups, which have yet to be named. The fair is sponsored by the Balearic government and the Palma city council.
