Fears that Conservative backbencher Michael Colvin and his wife Nichola perished in the fierce fire which swept through and destroyed their country estate in Hampshire yesterday, have not only deeply saddened fellow politicians and friends in the United Kingdom, but also in Majorca. In an illustrious political career Michael Colvin was the Chairman of Conservatives Abroad Worldwide and came to Majorca four years ago to address and meet friends and members of Conservatives Abroad. Yesterday Honorary Life President of Conservatives Abroad, Donald Gaffney, said that he and many others in Majorca who met and had got to know Michael Colvin and his wife, are shattered, shocked and deeply upset by the news. He was a fine and friendly man.
