A one year old child, named as Ramon Orta Heredia, died when knocked over by a car which was being reversed by the family home in Manacor. Police sources said that the accident occured at 8pm on Thursday, in the Cami de Son Mox, on the outskirts of Manacor. It seems that the child ran out of the house as the car was being reversed, to leave the property. The child was rushed to Manacor hospital by a member of the family, but doctors were unable to save his life. A German woman, Ingrid Liese Kurze, aged 63, died of injuries sustained when the car which she was driving was involved in a head-on collision with an ambulance on the Manacor road, by the Algaida petrol station. Her husband, in the passenger seat, escaped with bruising. The woman received emergency treatment in a second ambulance and was rushed to hospital in critical condition with severe head and chest injuries. She died shortly after admission.
