The strike by bar and shop-owners in Calvia to protest against new council rulings, which effectively means that all businesses must have their own parking space, had little effect. Support for the stoppage was at its greatest in Magalluf and all the bars along Calle Punta Ballena closed on Thursday. More than 100 protestors demonstrated outside the offices of the Calvia council. They were barred from the building by a large police presence. A delegation later held talks with Mayor Margarita Najera.
