Tonight Majorcan film and television production company Palma Pictures will officially open its new studio complex, the Mediterranean Production Centre, in Marratxi which will enable Majorca to compete with all other European locations in the international film and television market. Palma Pictures, which first started operating in Majorca seven years ago, has invested more that 1'000 million pesetas in the production centre, which is one of the most technologically advanced in Spain and the most modern studio complex in the European Union. In total the centre covers an area of 3'000 square metres with the heart of the complex in the 1'030 square metre main studio, which is fully computerised. Every aspect of film production has been considered, the centre also includes editing suites, conference rooms, a gymnasium, restaurant, kitchens, make-up and wardrobe rooms and a fully fitted carpentry shop as well as a fleet of fully equipped vehicles for location filming.
