Michael Douglas's dream of protecting and promoting the western coast of Majorca took another step forward yesterday with the presentation of a series of prizes for schoolchildren on the need to protect the environment. More than 4'000 schoolchildren from across the island have passed through the Costa Nord cultural centre in Valldemossa, which is owned by Douglas and this is where the prizes were presented. One of the purposes of this centre is to underline the great natural beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana on the west coast. Children taking part in the competition have produced essays and drawings all related to nature.
