Bucking the national trend, unemployment in the Balearics rose last month by 184, taking the current unemployment rate to 4.66 per cent of the active population. The rise in jobless last month represented an increase of 1.02 per cent on June's figures while the national unemployment figures fell by 1.21 per cent. However, the Balearic unemployment rate is still the lowest in Spain, four points below the national average of 8.54 per cent. In comparison to July last year though, there were 2.913 more people without a job in the Balearics last month.
