NEARLY a quarter of this year's Spanish Tourist Institute's promotional budget is to be spent in the UK, a clear indication of just how important the British market is to the Spanish tourist industry. Turespaña will also be promoting Spain at 120 travel fairs with 22% of the 2003 budget going on UK advertising campaigns and 20% destined to trying to revive, or at least consolidate the struggling German market. This year Turespaña will be launching a new image of Spain with its 40 million euro “España marca” which will also include the Balearics and the new campaign to promote Spain as a cultural destination. A new four million euro internet campaign is also being launched.
