Shaun1If you are not capable of checking how it works in other countries apart from UK, I suggest better not buy broad at all. Every country is different when buying a property.

Totally disagree with you regarding buying a property in Spain. People have short memories, it wasn’t that long ago when properties were built without permission and illegally. And lots of people lost money when buildings were demolished or had deposits taken and the property were never built, along with the corruption at the town halls. Sorry but this doesn’t happen in the uk

Ulla JacksonThe process of buy a property is far better (albeit more expensive) in Spain than in the UK. A much better system where no one can appear at the last minute, make a better offer and take it off you. But the UK is incapable of learning from other countries as it always thinks (against all evidence) that it is the best

Ulla JacksonTrue. We've had Americans, Brits and a few other non-EU nationalities visit, and nobody's mentioned anything abnormal or unusually burdensome. But then, you can see how this is framed.... Britain is a victim, and so Mallorca tourism will be dead because some small number of Brits won't be coming because they have to endure the same passport controls as anyone else. And naturally, the other 75% of touristm who aren't British don't matter. Besides, who wants non-british tourists? Nail in the coffin, eh? Oh well... Enjoy Brighton and Blackpool. We'll just have to deal with it.

Itsus2It's not about being good enough, it's a about the UK is treated as any other country outside of EU, as 52% voted for leaving. You can't have the cake and eat it. Regarding the waiting time at the airport customs control. I have had 3 UK friends visiting me and none have encountered any problems in waiting time. The last visitor who came from UK was at Plaça España about one hour after arrival. Yes if you choose school holidays it might be longer waiting times but that might be whereever you head, otherwise it seems not to be a problem.

Ulla, I have not said anything, I just wrote fact. The man behind Brexit was Farage, and he never said it was about oven ready deals, whether baked or half baked. All those that voted to leave knew what they were voting for, and knew the EU would not take kindly if we did, and we now see this is very true. BJ only joined the "party" because he would get the PM's job, he had no intention of doing anything else as you can see in his hasty departure from the scene, only carving into stone, politicians only say what will get them votes. I have no intention of buying anywhere, and have been visiting Mallorca since 1972 after after a career travelling world wide, and on retirement decided to spend 6 months/year in Mallorca which I have done since the turn of the millennium, but am old enough to realise the day's of simplicity are long gone with more and more regulation of the honest citizen.

For what is now over twelve years we have been coming to Mallorca two and even three times a year, we have made many friends there. We love the place and its people. Yet it seems Spain and Mallorca are doing all they can to put us off returning as we did in the past. We have spent thousands upon thousands of pounds in Mallorca over the years which we know has supported both the places we stayed at and the people who work with in them, near on all local people I may add. As for spending hours in ques for whatever, why? are we not good enough anymore? We have not visited since Covid and have booked to come out in April next year if however it turns out that we are going to have nothing but hazel while spending hours spent in ques, sorry but we just cannot cope with it. It would in fact be cheaper to right off the cost of our flights there and go were we would be more welcome, crazy but true .

Nigel MaudeAre you saying that UK works fast. That's a new to me. I thought Johnson said it was an owen ready deal, and you say is only half baked. The problem with UK is that there is one rule and ten exeptions. Good luck to buy in Italy, it's more of a nightmare to buy there rather than in Spain, which is complicated enough. If you think it's easy to buy and sell properties in UK, I differ on that too, it's an never ending process.

Ulla JacksonUlla We have a saying , that there nowt stranger than folk , most cultures have a similar one, again showing how similar we are. Most I know think Qatar is unsuitable for the World Cup for many reasons, primary the heat. The foot ball culture . It will be seriously interesting when Italian and Brazilian fans arrive there. But it’s the gulf and it’s there country and rules, FIFA new that when they accepted euphorically the “pieces of silver.” And took the show there. As for the common man’s choices well rational economics are always at play. Political or ethical considerations are rarely engaged , how would Dubai, Cuba and many other growing holiday destinations exist otherwise. We all buy products made in China for many reasons, cost , or no real alternatives for some products, but a more totalitarian threat to our western democracy does not exist, but we all finance that regime all the same. Choices!!,

Nigel MaudeYour correct about the U.K. government and Brexit , but in their defence But in 2019 would you have bet a years wages on what’s happened between then and now Yeh I have heard reports of the over stamping at Palma. My two from Schiphol are very aligned and clear. I expect the two I collect from Berlin next month will be the same. And surmise the poor guard's will be equally bored. But hey it’s their job . Someone has to do it.
