LancelotI'd suggest considering the root of the problem; Over-sensationalising. The reality is that it's a minor inconvenience at worst, likely to have little effect on the vast majority. The only ones who may experience any major inconvenience are those living here most or all of the time, unofficially.
For heaven's sake, can we the reading public, have some real Journalistic comment on the subject. Odd articles which simply state [facts] without comment/ advice or Journalistic comment are not required. Can we have a comprehensive (researched) article on what problems Tourist face; what can be done to overcome them and what residents can do to help their families/visitors come to the Island and enjoy themselves. And PDQ
I fail to see why a Spanish-owned English language publication publishing local news employs brexiteering Brit journalists bemoaning the lot of British tourists. Surely the main readership is locally based, therefore with residency entitlement. I doubt the Daily Mail reading brigade swot up on the MJ ahead of their Magaluf fortnight.
Once again an article about problems for Brits travelling brings out the euro haters. Mr Maude tells us the EU is imploding. Funny, I have heard that before but last time I looked it was still functioning. Needs improvement of course but what large organisation doesn't ? Couple of points - the roads you drive on - smooth and direct. It was EU money that paid for them. As for tourism how many 5 star hotels do we have now. Their investors obviously see a future. Just remember , if you had all voted the right way the worriers and the moaners would have had to find something else to worry and moan about.
Well, we have all been warned. Strict controls over law abiding citizens and not a peep from human rights' lawyers, but illegal immigrants are treated with much more respect. Remember, the EU is an expensive organisation to run, money must be extracted from as many hard working people as possible in order to keep the gravy train going.

MDB, a question? Are you trying to stop Brits visiting Mallorca? Because you are doing a very good job. The EU is imploding, and this new "border safety" will be as functional as the UK Border Force, honest travellers will be criminalised, while the unruly come by boats. No papers, no nothing, taking the proverbial. Restaurants and bars are closing due to lack of staff, my recent (March) Schengen visit reminded me of the pandemic. Time someone woke up and saw the damage they are doing to the people of Mallorca before it is too late.

Stays in the Schengen area are not restricted to "two batches of 90 days " per year. There is a Schengen web site which provides a very good way of working out and keeping track of your stays in their zone. You can visit as often as you like as long as you do not stay more than 90 days in total in the previous 180 day period and taken as a rolling period. We have been visiting Mallorca for two weeks each month and it works a treat except that a stay from Saturday to Saturday is calculated as 8 days not 7. And we can do this throughout the year although the increase is air fares has made it better now to stay 28 days every other month. So a month in the UK and 28 days in Mallorca.
