Nigel MaudeThat's true. The downside with no ID cards is that, no-one in the UK can check who is there legally or illegally but as you say, that's the price you pay for being a sovereign country., and happy with that.
AI assume you never visit any country who require this, even many countries outside of EU have the same set up.I
royI assume you never visit the US or countries in Asia, as its common in many countries these days, or is just Orwell in EU?
I assume that none of the self-proclaimed champions of freedom deriding the "evil fascist EU" here for taking their fingerprints have been to the USA in the last 15 years, where the Land Of The Free merrily takes prints of all 10 fingers every time you enter.
Nigel MaudeYes. Agree with your earlier comment about the technology not up to it though. Queue mania! It just doesn’t work well enough to cope. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. But hey. What the hell. We argue amongst ourselves but the decision makers will always screw up.
Nigel MaudeYes. Duh!
Marvin Le MartianWhy? Because you have to have one? So everyone has to have one? Thank god for Brexit, and being now a sovereign nation, even if our politicians think and act as though we are still a Member State of the EU. Freedom has it's price.
AWhy what have you got to hide A?
Perfectly happy to give the personal identities being asked for. Nothing to hide and not one of those who sees a Government conspiracy around every corner. And the faster I can clear through the Customs hall on arrival the better. All good.
No worries. They'll all go suspiciously quiet when their neighbours tell them that whenever they fly to Europe, passport control is really quick and easy... like buying something with their debit card; Beep. Approved. Next... Still, nobody is forcing them to abandon the "freedom" they enjoy by never leaving home. That lot are probably better off in isolation anyway. Better for everybody, really.
