Cat FisherWhat Gibraltar negotiations? The one where Gibraltar is overwhelmingly wanting to join Schengen (with Spain naturally controlling customs at the airport), but the UK says no? That negotiation?

Stephen GrimmerI will reserve my opinion until the Gibraltar negotiations have concluded. He may know something that we don’t.

It's a Schengen-wide regulation, there is no unilateral choice in the matter, because you can then travel overland to and from Spain to Portugal, France and onwards, as far as Finland and Romania with zero oversight. It disingenuous and irresponsible for a UK official, an ambassador no less, to comment in such a manner. What does he expect, for France to seal the Pyrennean passes for the benefit of holiday home owners for whom the British winter is too long?

Actually Europeans can stay in the U.K. for up to 6 months at a time and return. Most people just want a reciprocal arrangement, but our government failed miserably when negotiations took place.

Just TogetpublishedI’m not going to dignify your insane and ridiculous comment with a reply. All I will say is: grow up.

Richard PearsonYou are comparing a TIE to genocide, wow.

user Richard Pearson | 2 months ago

Just TogetpublishedI don’t follow your reasoning that someone has something to hide just because they object to having their fingerprints taken. You should read about the history of Dutch Jews during WWII, and why so many were arrested. As far as I know, the A4 does not have an expiry date. It could of course be given a date of expiry, but that’s not the same thing.

Richard PearsonWhy don't they like the idea of being fingerprinted, what have they got to hide and everything has an expiry date.

He can hope as much as he likes, but most likely it won't happen.

Brits in particular, should be able to go wherever they want, anytime they want, for any reason they want. And stay as long as they like. And not be obliged to register or participate in silly communist stuff like paying taxes or getting a driving licence. Because without our quid, they'd all be living in the stone age. Good job we left that mess. But we still want to live there. For free (well, cheap at least).
