So, tourists with cash in their pockets to spend aren't welcome but refugees without a cent and with stealing as their only means to eat and buy drugs are welcome. I've owned property here for over a decade. I'm usually to be seen in scruffy-ish clothing, paint or cement stained jeans, driving a ten year old, scratched local car with a roof-rack, and with a dog in tow. Hardly the hallmarks of a rental-drivin g tourist grabbing their fortnight in the sun, or an 8 hour cruise ship visitor. I also speak Spanish and am an EU citizen. And yet, recently I was jostled and verbally abused as a "tourist"! Maybe if I got a better tan and learned some Arabic, life would be easier?
