Jake, you must have been lucky on your previous flights! I fly to Mallorca 2 or 3 times a year and on many occasions the flight has been spoiled by certain people who have had too much to drink. Only 5 weeks ago I was on the flight from Stanstead and at 7am there were a group of lads boarding that were well on their way to being drunk. Obviously, by the time we got to Palma they were well drunk, shouting swearing and singing 'rude' songs and that's with women and children on board. I alcohol ban on planes and airports would be an excellent idea in my opinion.
8 times a year is that all you need to get out a bit more preferably sober
What a miserable bunch of boring old gits you all are. I travel to Mallorca 8 times/year and have done so for many years and ive never seen any drunks or bad behaviour. Its simply not that big a problem to go and ruin it for everyone by banning drinks at the airport or on the plane. Fact is ugly tatooed unintelligent people will pick a fight with a bollard irrespective of booze. what we should really be doing is taking away passports from anyone with an IQ less than 120 or who has a tatoo. That would sort it.
There really should be nobody on board that would fail a breathyliser test, as on cruuse ships too. In the case of having to abandon either type of vessel it would hinder safety, and become an insurance debate. Business overrides that though.
As I tried to say earlier, it only takes half the amount at 37000 feet to get drunk. 2 pints of beer is 1 or 2 too many before a flight. A possibility would sadly to ban alcohol on all flights. I generally do not drink, as I have to drive both ends. Also stamp all boarding cards with alcohol purchased in airport shops. Any found missing at the gate, gets an on the spot ban from a year to life. If with a party, ban the whole party, if comes down to things sadly. One final thing, being drunk and causing trouble on a plane should carry a lifetime flight ban. Put a very strong sticker on both front and back covers of the offender's passport. "FB" (Flight Ban) This could prevent international being drunk on a plane, from boarding again.
Its only 2hrs from the uk. So they must have been drunk before bording? How were they allowed on in the first place? If they weren't drunk beforehand, how did they drink so much on board? Luckily not everyone behaves like this. They deserve to be fined and sent home again!
I enjoy a drink on my way to Mallorca so tightening controls on alcohol would impact on me. No, Henry and Geoff have the answer, they should be banned from flying, end off. If you can't behave in a decent manner when abroad then you should be "confined to barracks".
I totally agree with the suggestion of stamping boarding passes at the airport. I have suggested this on numerous occasions. Staff at my local airport have also stated that they would like to have some type of control in place (especially when it is the stag and hen parties. Once they have gone through security check they buy a bottle of spirits go into the the toilet and decant it into a bottle of coke and this then looks like a soft drink to take on board. This was done recently on a flight by three females traveling to Palma. Ike
I remember my first flight to Canada from England in 1972 when they still allowed smoking onboard. Now they don't (Thank God). If you can go without a cigarette you can go without alcohol. No alcohol in airports or on planes and if somebody checking in appears to be drunk, they should undergo a breathalyser and if they fail, they should be prevented from boarding the plane at their cost. We all make choices in life and we should have to pay for the bad ones we make because at the end of the day, it was our choice. Sadly these incidents impact on others. I am sure the start or end of a wonderful holiday was ruined by these abusive louts and that is not right. We simply don't need these people. Let them stay at home. Create a database, as they do with soccer hooligans and let those who know how to act properly enjoy their travels, while those that don't sit at home.
Why create rules for everyone, because some idiots cannot drink and behave ? How many times have they been in fights back home? This is not just the alcohol, its the people.....they should not drink on an empty brain...
