Wanda Landowska was a Polish harpsichordist and pianist who in 1933 became the first person to record Bach’s ‘Goldberg Variations’.

Jewish, she fled France for the States when the German army invaded; she never returned. She had performed at the Teatre Principal in Palma in 1911 and visited the Charterhouse in Valldemossa to pay her tribute to Chopin. Previously unpublished photos of this visit will be presented for a lecture to be followed by a concert in tribute to her.

This will be by Diego Ares, pianist and also one of the most influential harpsichordists of his generation. It will feature works by Landowska as well as, for example, Bach and Mozart and of course Chopin.
