The body of an 83-year-old Irish woman was this morning found floating some 300 metres off the beach in Santa Ponsa. The body was first spotted by swimmers who raised the alarm.

The woman was apparently fully dressed and had her bag with her which included her passport.

She also had a blow to the nose, although police seem to be ruling out foul play and believe that the blow was the result of her falling on rocks. Sources say that the body had been in the water for most of the night.
