I along with my family was unfortunate in spending almost 40 hours at Palma airport, caught up within the coach dispute. The excessive delay, combined with the horrendous surrounding litter throughout the terminal and the shear frustration affected myself and my fellow passengers badly. Perhaps next year there will be too many coach drivers and not enough passengers to hold hostage!
After arriving back home on Sunday 2nd July and reflecting on the hell-hole of Palma airport departures, I feel that I need to put a point across for my fellow travellers and my family. We arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning to a litter-strewn departure lounge with bodies and luggage everywhere. The worst ordeal was yet to face us when my little boy of 3 asked to go to the toilets, which at first did not concern me until I arrived at the actual toilets, they were absolutely disgraceful they had not been cleaned for God knows how long and the floor was wet and filthy. How do you explain to a 3 year old not to touch anything and when asked if he could wash his hands I refused on the grounds that he would pick more germs up from the surrounding area. Why did the airport not make sure that adequate staff were available to make the public toilets fit for the travellers to go in?
I am due to holiday this Sat 7/7. It is my second holiday to Majorca and if I have problems, most certainly my last. I have a barbers shop and the strike has been the subject of much discussion and most of my customers have said they will not go to Majorca.
