THE Central Government Delegate's office, responsible for residencias and work permits is increasing its staff by 30 people and should reduce by 75 percent the waiting time for those whose paper-work is being processed. This is all the work of the new delegate, former Mayor of Alcudia, Miguel Angel Ramis. All this at a time when residencias have been scrapped, which effectively means that the majority of us will no longer have to visit these so-called “offices for foreigners.” Their workload will fall dramatically and at the same staff is being increased. I just wonder why weren't more staff recruited before when all non-Spaniards had to pass through these offices and waiting time for papers was about twelve months. Okay, there is a new man in the job and he naturally wants to stamp his authority on the job but if extra staff had been recruited two years ago then our life would have been made much easier.
