We are all 'freaks.' Miss Loopita releases her seventh album, inspired by 'Freaks', a 1932 film about a circus of people with functional diversity.
The first thing you should know about Miss Loopita is that this is the alias of producer Carles Pérez.
There is no miss as such, unless one factors in vocalist Veronica Pisano. In addition, there is visual artist Dani Kumm (aka Lumatrix). And together they have a show that is a tribute to American director Tod Browning’s 1932 horror film ‘Freaks’, which was highly controversial and, for instance, banned in the UK for thirty years.
A box-office failure because of the criticisms, it has subsequently been reappraised as a classic. Scenes from the film play behind the artists. Dance music meets Freaks, it’s very good.
