Sara Baras' 'Alma' blossoms in the Es Jardí series. The renowned bailaora (female flamenco dancer) returned to the former Aquapark in Magalluf after the success of a work that embraces the bolero from a flamenco perspective. | R.C.
Sara Baras started studying dance at the age of eight and by the age of fourteen she was already picking up awards.
One of Spain’s great flamenco dancers, she is also a choreographer - her company has put on twenty shows over the past 25 years.
The awards have kept coming. In 2003, it was Spain’s National Dance Award, which is given for interpretation and creation. In 2020, she was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts by Spain’s culture ministry. In the meantime, she teamed up with tenor José Carreras to direct and choreograph a show which brought voices and dance together in a tribute to great Spanish composers. She was in Mallorca last year for the Es Jardí season in Magalluf and she is returning with her tribute to guitarist Paco de Lucía.
