Israeli Boaz Berman is the founder and artistic director of Mayumana, a company formed in 1996 which produces shows of high-energy dance and movement allied to music and effects.
As its website says: “Experience the magic that happens when movement, rhythm and music come together.” Which they do with three different shows, one of which, ‘Impulso’, will be performed in Palma.
Berman has spoken about how he gets inspiration for the shows. Another, ‘Currents’, arose from the dispute between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla - direct versus alternating current. He says that shows are about energising audiences through invigorating performance and music that can use everything from drums, bass and keyboards to barrels and rubbish bins.
