The National Dance Company of Ireland presents Rhythm of the Dance. Celebrating 23 years of international tours. Featuring champion Irish dancers and world class musicians & vocalists! | Youtube: Dane McKiernan
It was the performance of a show titled ‘Riverdance’ for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin that first brought Michael Flatley and traditional Irish dance updated for the modern day to worldwide attention.
Where Flatley led, others followed. Irish step dance accompanied by the instrumentation of uilleann pipes, bodhran, fiddle, whistles and harp have made the National Dance Company of Ireland’s ‘Rhythm of the Dance’ a global spectacular.
There have been seven million spectators in fifty countries over 25 years for what is the longest-running Irish dance show after ‘Riverdance’.
The chief choreographers, James Greenan and Belinda Murphy have both been associated with ‘Riverdance’. Belinda Murphy was in fact a dancer and assistant choreographer for that 1994 Eurovision performance.
The dancers include national, international and world champion dancers. The credentials for ‘Rhythm of the Dance’ are impeccable.
