The International Ballet Company was formed by soloists Cristina and Alexei Terentiev from Moldova.
This was when a tour of Spain by the Ballet de Moscú, Moscow Ballet RFB, was called off in early March last year.
There was some difficulty in putting the company together as some Ukrainian members had swapped the ballet stage for a theatre of war, but the mix of nationalities still includes Ukrainian dancers.
The company is now becoming something of a regular in Mallorca, having stepped in to perform the traditional New Year ballets in January this year because Ballet de Moscú was obviously unable to. Its tour in the spring featured Giselle, the French ballet with music by Adolphe Adam that was first performed in Paris in 1841.
With soloists Cristina Terentiev and Alexandru Balan, the company will be returning in the New Year with its performance of Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker', the ballet that is set on Christmas Eve.
