The National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Tirana was itself founded in 1953. The ballet company now comprises some forty dancers. In the past it was confined to the communist bloc, but since those restrictive days of the past has moved on to perform on the world stage.
The Albanian National Ballet is coming to Palma and will present its interpretation of ‘Giselle’. Considered to be a masterwork in the classic ballet performance canon, the music was by French composer Adolphe Adam and was first performed in 1841 in Paris. It was an unqualified triumph, the story of the ballet concerning a beautiful, shy girl - Giselle.
