Human towers for Saint Ursula

The city of Valls in Catalonia is home to the Museu Casteller de Catalunya, the museum for human towers.

The city celebrates the feast of Saint Ursula (October 21), she of the legend of the 11,000 virgins. And tradition has it that there is a grand human towers event to mark the fiesta.

There are a number of similar events elsewhere in Catalonia on Saturday. And there is also one in Palma. It's described as a day, when it's more of an afternoon and evening. But this is by the by.

Three human towers teams will be taking part - Castellers de Mallorca, Al-lots de Llevant (also Mallorca) and Castellera Boixes i Boixos from Ibiza. There will also be folk music and dance. The whole event will kick off with a procession from Plaça Espanya to Plaça Cort, one of two locations.
