La CaixaForum in Palma to hold a fashion and cinema exhibition by Jean Paul Gaultier. | Archives
Cinema and Fashion. By Jean Paul Gaultier, co-organised by the "la Caixa" Foundation and La Cinémathèque française, offers an eclectic journey that intertwines cinema and fashion with great creators and artists, from the personal perspective of the enfant terrible, both as a costume designer and as a film buff.
From a sociological approach and beyond mythomania, the exhibition delves into the context of the creation of film costumes and emphasises key aspects such as female empowerment and its reflection in 20th century fashion and filmography.
The exhibition brings together 57 iconic film looks with works by designers of the stature of Coco Chanel, Balenciaga, Pierre Cardin and Sybilla, as well as creations by Gaultier himself; dresses by Sharon Stone, Catherine Deneuve and Madonna; the costumes of Superman, The Mask of Zorro and Rocky, as well as audiovisual projections, original posters and photographs.
The exhibition takes place from Saturday, September 30 to January 7, 2024 at CaixaForum in Palma. Entrance is 6 euros.
