The switch-on for Palma’s Christmas lights is Saturday night, but Bunyola will be stealing a march on the capital (and its neighbour) by turning on the lights on Friday.

This will be at 6pm, a sort of prelude to the weekend’s Santa Catalina Fair.

A highly traditional fair in many ways, this will be the fourteenth edition. When the first fair was held, much was made of the fact Bunyola was rather odd in not having had a fair.
It has since become very well established, the main non-traditional feature being Saturday night’s Santa CataRock.

The fair closes on Sunday with the lighting of bonfires, an indication that the winter season of fiesta bonfires is coming.
