Many collectors and music lovers come together at the Fira del Disc. | E.Q.
The International Disc Fair is a celebration of vinyl, CDs, and pop and rock memorabilia.
The 22nd fair in Mallorca will feature numerous stands, with exhibitors from Spain, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the US. A nostalgia trip it is, but the fair highlights the huge interest there is in the LP and the single and in an aesthetic appeal in terms of packaging that has been all but lost in the download era.
The organisers have said in the past that the heaviest demand among collectors is for classic albums by the likes of Pink Floyd and David Bowie. The fair is now also gradually attracting a younger audience by integrating urban music. The line-up of live acts for this year’s fair includes top Italian ska-punk band Talco, known for their anti-racist stance.
