The Reggaeton festival in Can Picafort

The Reggaeton Beach Festival continues to cause some controversy because of noise and claims of environmental damage.

Santa Margalida town hall has remained steadfast, last year’s event reckoned to have generated 4.4 million euros for the local economy. The festival is itinerant; there are various venues in Spain up to August 4, the first having been on June 29.

Some 40,000 people are expected for the two-day event, which will be headlined by the likes of Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. As well as all the music, there are chill-out zones, a pool, food trucks and more. For Mallorca, it is a pretty major event. It’s being held in the Son Bauló part of Can Picafort and close to two hotels - the Exagon Park and the Vell Marí.
