‘Agrifest’ at one of Mallorca’s grand estates

Els Calderers is a prime example of the preservation of the one-time grand ‘possessions’ in Mallorca.

An estate that was first documented as belonging to the Calderer family in 1285, it was sold to the Verí family in the 18th century. In 1993, it opened as a manor house museum that highlights, among other things, traditional farm machinery.

This is the setting for the prelude to the Sant Joan agricultural fair on Sunday. The ‘Agrifest’ will feature craft beers from Mallorca, traditional food, a craft market of products local to Sant Joan and live music. The councillor for culture and fiestas, Joan Català, says of this inaugural event that he is “most excited” to be able to promote “our culture and identity more than ever”.
