Llucmajor’s final fair (almost) this weekend

Keeping track of Llucmajor’s autumn fairs can be a touch complicated.

There are four of them, but there is also the Llucmajor Show, while there is a small fair (Es Firó) following this Sunday’s final fair and there has previously also been a health fair. Let’s just say that there are plenty of fairs in Llucmajor.

The final fair is when Llucmajor gets back to its agricultural and countryside roots, previous fairs having explored, for instance, a world of ‘freakiness’ - gaming, super heroes and such like.

Animals are the star attraction of the final fair, and exhibitions will include ones for the “noble art of falconry”. A big attraction is always the procession by the Llucmajor peasant giants - Miquel and Candida, whose names come from the Llucmajor saints.

This is the main fair, very popular and the Llucmajor rival to Inca’s Dijous Bo, but not as rammed as Dijous Bo as it isn’t quite the island-wide social occasion that the Inca fair is.
