The Palau de Congressos hosts the ninth edition of the Rata Market Nadal, a convergence of art, design, and local crafts. | Pere Bergas
The Rata Market is one of the projects of Rata Cultura, a cultural management and communications agency associated with the Rata Corner bookshop in Palma and responsible for, as an example, the FLEM literary festival held in Magalluf each autumn.
The agency was founded in 2015, which was the year of the first market. The philosophy is the promotion of artisan brands and projects and local and sustainable products. It’s all to do with fostering a new model of consumption. The markets have proved to be highly successful, the venues having included Marratxi’s Museu del Fang (Ceramics Museum) and Inca’s Sant Domingo Cloister.
The Palacio de Congresos has been another venue, and it is to here that the market is returning for its Christmas edition. There will also be gastronomy, family activities and music. Another example of an excellent island initiative.
