The event has been dubbed Nadal Eclectic 2024, nothing to do with the tennis player, as Nadal does of course mean Christmas.
It brings together a whole load of island musicians who are the top names on what might broadly be described as Mallorca’s pop scene.
The range of talent does rather defy the pop tag in that they cover various styles. There is, for instance, and among the more veteran artists, Joan Miquel Oliver, guitarist and songwriter for the indie band Antònia Font, the biggest name of all on the island scene (and not just in Mallorca). Of young artists there are, for instance, Maria Hein and Maria Jaume, whose music can be styled as folk-pop. At the recent Enderrock awards for Balearic music, both Marias were recipients. Nadal Eclectic 2024 provides an excellent showcase for the very best of Mallorca’s popular music.
