The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam will perform at the end of the month in Mallorca. | Festival de Musica Clasica, Port de Soller Facebook
The Puerto Soller Festival of Classical Music consists of five concerts, the first of which will feature an ensemble familiar to festival goers in Puerto Soller and in Pollensa.
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam has provided chamber groups to both festivals. Last year there were seven members of the orchestra for the opening concert; this year there are ten plus conductor Rolf Verbeek.
Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, the RCO will be performing his Symphony No. 4, one of his most popular works that was originally composed in 1874 before undergoing various revisions. Bruckner himself dubbed it the Romantic Symphony, even though it was written some years after the peak of the Romanticist movement.
