Balearics Day is March 1, but in advance of this there is a special concert featuring the Balearic Symphony Orchestra and an intriguing range of musicians.
These are folk group Aires Formenterencs, who as the name suggests are from Formentera, Minorcan baritone Simón Orfila, and acclaimed Mallorcan singer Julia Colom, whose style crosses between folk and jazz.
Then there is also Spanish-Filipino flautist Rafael Adobas. A member of the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra, he is representative of a new generation of flautists who combine musical creation with other artistic disciplines.
