Barry Sargent and baroque violin

Barry Sargent has become a very well-known name on Mallorca's music scene, partly because of his founding in 2014 of the Ensemble Tramuntana, which each year organises a competition for a talented young island musician to become a soloist.

From Cincinnati, and now resident in Soller, he was a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15.

His studies led him to an interest in historical instruments and in particular the baroque violin.

And baroque leads us to Johann Sebastian Bach and to a two-part solo concert, Integral de Bach.

The first features three of the six works - sonatas and partitas - that Bach composed for solo violin, and therefore baroque violin.
